Just a little background of this #series ‘…a beautiful house a day…’

I must have started that series many years ago.

I start my day usually with reading my many news feeds in #Feedly. The first collection is from Architecture in general and ArchDaily website in particular.

Feedly presents these new articles in a magazine like format and basically I find the first appealing picture in that overview as a candidate to be published.

There is no premeditated setup in this selection. I never really know why I choose what I choose. It must be something to live in ( more as an office building for instance) , not to big, not to small. Mostly I find I am drawn more to modern style. I like wide open spaces, with a lot of light/glass.

Maybe I can do a short research on all the pictures I have blogged so far in this series and see if Google Image selector can make something of this… 😉

As ever, enjoy!

#VR4Rehab #interregNWE #Hackathon

We are at our 5th hackathon for the #VR4Rehab project in Bruges and today at the Sportinnovation campus van Howest.

We have some 60 students from this educational facility. Some on physical therapy, ergotherapy, others on a more technological study.

All in all, we are able to build team from various disciplines which is exactly right for our design challenges in this hackathon.

We are working on rehab application for pain management, lower limb, adherence to therapy etc.

This morning we first had rounds on empathizing with the subjects, now we are in the phase of building our first shitty drafts and prototype ideas. Later today the students will present to a jury and will be judged for a ticket to get to the upcoming Game Jams where the actual workable demo will be developed based on the ideas that emerged in these 5 hackathons.

Just a short impression of a well visited ‘Low-Tech, High-Touch’ event in co-creation with Van Berlo Design in Eindhoven.

Of course it is Dutch Design Week, so the city of Eindhoven is buzzing with activities. But that is just the right atmosphere we looked for when Stef and I got together some 3 weeks ago with the idea to host a meeting explaining the power of design thinking to the challenges of healthcare.

We started with a small tour across the ‘Embassy of Health’. We looked at new concepts for sedentary lifestyle, artificial wombs and AI for Healthcare. A digital detox pop-up store will be located in Amsterdam shortly and did you know OR personel suffers from Alarm Fatique?

We had interesting discussions and presentations around the implementation of a change oriented mindset within healthcare.

If you have time this week, be sure to visit them in the Innovation Powerhouse.
